Operation 2025-2026

RLCF was honored to host artists Carol Jolly and Zoe McCarthy as part of the 2026 North Louisiana Artist-in-Residence program. Their collaborative installation,“Operation”, explores emotional and sensory experiences through an immersive combination of painting, sculpture, and animation.

The project began with a powerful personal work by Carol Jolly created after experiencing significant loss. What started as a raw self-portrait evolved into a larger collaborative installation exploring how grief and emotion live in the body. Through sculptural forms and tactile materials, the work invites visitors to engage physically and emotionally with the artwork. During their time in Ruston, the artist engaged with local creatives and community members while experiencing Louisiana culture - even catching Mardi Gras during their visit. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the installation - touching, exploring, and reflecting - creating a playful yet deeply meaningful connection between art, emotion, and the body.

“Operation” opened at the Gilbert Center Gallery and was featured during the Ruston Art Ramble. The exhibition will remain on display through April 10th 2026, after which it will travel to additional locations, including Philadelphia later this year.
