RLCF Selects Prize Foundation for 2021 5 Day 5K

The Ross Lynn Charitable Foundation (RLCF) has responded in 2020 to social distancing challenges currently upon us by launching virtual formats of many of its programs. One of those is reaching participants from all over the world to get outdoors and do some good.

Prize made a series of incredible (and hilarious) videos for 5 Day 5K this year, visit their youtube channel to watch them!

RLCF created 5 Day 5K — A Virtual Outdoor Challenge to encourage participants to get outdoors, all while giving back to the greater Louisiana community through a chosen beneficiary organization. Last year’s beneficiary was the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s Music Relief Fund and was amplified by a dollar-for-dollar match from the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief project.

This year, the Ross Lynn Foundation chose the Prize Foundation as the recipient of proceeds raised from 5 Day 5K. The Prize Foundation is an incredible organization in Northwest Louisiana organizing many well known programs including Food Prize, Music Prize, Fashion Prize, and Film Prize!

The April 2021 5 Day 5K was RLCF’s second virtual outdoor challenge. From April 6th through the 10th, participants were invited to complete 5km worth of activity, either over the span of five days or every day for five days. The events can be done anywhere, anytime, and by anybody. Participants were encouraged to walk, run, cycle, paddle, swim — anything to get their bodies moving.

This year, We saw 91 participants from 20 different states and 3 different countries around the world!

The mission of the Film Prize Foundation, Inc. (Prize Foundation) is to promote economic growth, workforce development, youth job training, creative class entrepreneurial build out and increased tourism through education, entrepreneurship, conferences, competitions and festivals in Shreveport and Northwest Louisiana.

The past year has been filled with incredible challenges for creatives and for our community. But in a dark time, many people in Northwest Louisiana — and around the world — found the shining light of hope and creativity through The Prize. Throughout 2020, they saw well over 500,000 streams of film, food, music, and fashion content created by people near and far in our community.
