In May, the Ross Lynn Charitable Foundation was able to bring published writer Robert Benson to Grambling, Louisiana for a writing workshop benefiting Lincoln Preparatory School students. This opportunity to enrich the lives of these students was made possible by a generous grant from Weyerhaeuser.

During the workshop, the Lincoln Prep students heard from Mr. Benson on what it means to be a writer and to live the writer’s life. They were tasked with two rounds of writing reflection pieces that were then shared with the rest of the group under Mr. Benson’s direction on the following day. Through this experience, the students were able to get a taste of engaging with an intentional writing practice and actively sharing their works with others for input and perspective.

The written reflections by the students will be collected by the Ross Lynn Foundation and complied into a published book under Robert Benson’s guidance. The book will be publicly available for purchase on the Ross Lynn Foundation’s website with proceeds benefiting future youth arts programing.
