We are currently accepting applications for the position of Nonprofit Intern. This position involves creating content for our general programming, projects, events, and fundraising efforts. Content can include visual media including social media posts, ads, brochure designs or written copy including press releases, blog posts, and program descriptions.
We are looking for someone who truly wants to learn and be a part of a growing non-profit and its work. Operating under the supervision of the Programs Director, the intern will work to produce strategic and creative material. All content will be approved before public release.
We anticipate the position being filled by an individual graduated with or pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or Marketing. However, we are open to all applicants and will consider their capabilities based on past work and performance in addition to formal training.
10 hours per week — Ideally, the intern will work at Main Street Exchange (122 S. Trenton) during shop hours (M-Th 10am-3pm, & F 10am-3pm), but we are flexible with class schedules and will consider alternatives.
Prior Work Experience
Due to the requirements of this internship, prior relevant work experience is highly recommended. Even though this is a professionally focused internship, we are a team and everyone does what is needed to carry out our work. Errands and grunt work will be required. This position is paid and you will gain first-hand knowledge and plenty of opportunities to build your portfolio.
Intern Responsibilities may include:
Understand and be familiar with the purpose, mission, and voice of RLCF.
Create content (letters, graphics, captions, descriptions, press releases, etc) for RLCF communication channels — RLCF website, Facebook, Instagram, Email campaigns, printed brochures and postcards, letters, press releases, videos, etc.
Graphics and Written Media
Assist with the marketing development of RLCF fundraisers/programs, such as Backroads & Bayous, The Legacy Show, Main Street Exchange, Give for Good, The Exchange, and our Residency Programs. This work will involve supporting the Programs and Events Coordinator in two areas:
Developing the visual language and style for each event
Building out content to populate RLCF communication channels
Creating/maintaining a marketing schedule for social media postings
Communicating with the voice style of the Ross Lynn Foundation
Writing copy for RLCF communication channels
Support RLCF staff with programing for events and fundraisers
Be available to assist customers of Main Street Exchange when needed
Previous work experience in graphic design
Strong skills in writing and editing
Familiarity with social media marketing
Proficiency in Adobe CC (specifically Illustrator)
Applicant must be able to work in Ruston, LA.
